| Gregangelo
Herrera, a third-generation San Franciscan of Lebanese and Mexican descent,
was exposed to a rich array of arts at an early age. He is a graduate
of the California College of Arts and Crafts, and he has extensive training
in dance, music, and circus arts. Gregangelo is an accomplished performing
artist. His signature act, the Whirling Circus Dervish, has gained international
recognition from a spectrum of audiences. The Gregangelo Museum is a collection of rooms and objects transformed and created, through artistic interpretation, into an oasis of color, texture, mystery, and emotion. The artist, inspired by sacred places from ancient, contemporary, and possible future world cultures, set out on an odyssey of artistic expression that continues to envelop his work. The structure itself became Gregangelo's canvas, and as his mind became unleashed, so followed his art. Over fifteen years of dedicated labor and unframed creativity culminate in the present state of the museum. The painted and gilded surfaces of the walls, floors, and ceilings, have all been executed solely by Gregangelo through a tedious process of applying multiple layers of experimental and conventional finishes to intricate hand-drawn patterns. The elaborate costumes, as well as the wall hangings, window coverings and select furnishings, have all been designed by Gregangelo. You will see objects of art commissioned from local artists, museum replicas, and a few absurd novelties. So leave your reality at the door and ride on the wings of imagination as you enter... |
